Prof. Bell had a blast virtually talking to several classes of 3rd grade students at Franklin Elementary in Council Bluffs, Iowa who were learning about inventing and problem solving! In their reading and learning, the students were trying to answer: “How can problem solving lead to new ideas?” During the chat, students learned and asked questions about some of the work Prof. Bell has done. We also discussed how students could start turning their own ideas into inventions. It was a fun time with lots of bright students!
This week’s essential question is “How can problem solving lead to new ideas?” We chatted with my friend @belltyler, an engineering professor at @uiowa. Thank you for helping us make real world connections to our learning! #achievemore #cbcsd pic.twitter.com/2MIrioFjDs

All the kids said the best part of their day was our chat with you! Thanks again for setting aside some time for us. We’d love to do it again next year!

We are so lucky to have had @belltyler digitally in our classroom! He is a engineer and inventor at U of Iowa and showed us via google hangout some of the amazing things he has created. So inspiring and truly enhanced our learning in reading this week! #ibelieve #achievemore pic.twitter.com/YQ5UzbtF6w
